The Association des professionnels en accès à l'information et en protection de la vie privée (AAPI) contributes to the influence of its members by recognizing their skills, their efforts, their contribution and their exceptional commitment to their workplace or to the Association.
Recognition of training programs and activities
AAPI achieves its objectives of transmitting knowledge and developing the skills and leadership of access to information and privacy professionals by designing and delivering various training programs and activities, recognized by the following organizations:
Faculty of Continuing Education, Université de Montréal
Since its first edition, the AAPI's PFPAIPRP-OPQ has been accredited by the Université de Montréal's Faculty of Continuing Education. Participants who meet the training requirements receive a professional attestation or a certificate of participation in the form of continuing education units (CEUs).
Quebec Bar
The Association sur l'accès et la protection de l'information (AAPI), doing business as the Association des professionnels en accès à l'information et en protection de la vie privée, is a recognized provider of many of its training courses by the Quebec Bar. Changes to the procedure for recognizing training activities have been made by the Barreau du Québec, and it is now up to each participant to present his or her certificate of participation in the ATIP-OPQ Professional Training Program to the Barreau in order to have his or her participation recognized as part of the mandatory continuing education of lawyers.
Chamber of Notaries of Quebec
At its meeting on October 21, 2011, the Ordre's Executive Committee resolved to recognize the AAPI's training activities for the purposes of the Regulation respecting the compulsory professional development of notaries.
Professional certificates
Attestation professionnelle en AIPRP
ATIP professional certification
The Attestation professionnelle en ATIP is awarded when the participant has successfully completed the regular PFPAIP-OPQ program.
In order to obtain their professional certification, participants must pass the exam after completing all Program courses. The exam, developed by an ATIP expert committee in collaboration with the Université de Montréal's Faculté de l'éducation permanente, reflects the learning objectives derived from the optimal competency profile on which the Program has been structured. It assesses the participant's knowledge and skills.
Certificate of participation issued by AAPI and Université de Montréal
A certificate is issued by the AAPI and the Université de Montréal's Faculty of Continuing Education when the participant has attended all courses in the LAIPRP, AGI or PGRP module. Thus, participation in the LAIPRP module leads to the issuance of the Attestation de participation au module LAIPRP, and so on for the other modules.
Access to Information and Privacy Training Program-Federal Institutions (ATIP-IF)
Certificate issued by AAPI and Université de Montréal
Attestation will be awarded upon successful completion of a module. To obtain the Université de Montréal and AAPI attestation, the participant must pass the exam after completing all the courses in the module. In the event of absence from one or more courses, the participant may retake the course(s) and take the exam at a subsequent module broadcast session.
In order to obtain the ATIP certificate, participants must pass an online exam offered by the Université de Montréal. The exam, developed by a committee of ATIP experts in collaboration with the Université de Montréal's Faculty of Continuing Education, reflects the learning objectives of each course in the module. It assesses the participant's knowledge and skills through a series of multiple-choice questions. Participants have a limited time to complete the online exam.
Peer recognition
Mérite AAPI
The Prix Mérite AAPI is awarded by a committee of members appointed by the Board of Directors. The AAPI recognizes excellence in work and rewards the efforts of its members and former members who have contributed, through their achievements, to reaching one or more of the objectives set by the Association.
By introducing and awarding a "Mérite AAPI" for the first time in 2003, the Association publicly recognizes the significant commitment of a corporate member, a member or former member of the AAPI, or a team, by presenting them with the bronze Mérite AAPI, created exclusively for the AAPI by Ms. Céline G. Lapointe, painter-sculptor.
After a temporary pause in the presentation of the AAPI Award of Merit, the Association is currently reflecting on the objectives and modalities of this recognition activity.
