The ATIP Professional's Handbook is the only book specifically focused on the day-to-day reality and practice of access to information and privacy professionals (previously called "Le Guide pratique en accès et protection de l'information").
As such, it is a reference tool designed to accompany and guide anyone working in these fields and exercising functions related to the application of legislation, principally the Act respecting access to documents held by public bodies and the protection of personal information, and ATIP's principles and rules of governance.
The Manual is aimed at the ATIP Manager and his or her office staff, as well as their colleagues within the organization, whether their responsibilities are at strategic or operational level.
Written by practitioners, for practitioners, the Manual is an eminently practical work, based on legal foundations made accessible to facilitate their application.

Volume 1 provides a broad overview of ATIP legislation and principles applicable to the public sector. The Access Act is the subject of a more exhaustive presentation.
Volumes 2 and 3 take a pragmatic approach to the implementation of the strategic and operational responsibilities of ATIP organizations, and the role of managers in this respect.
As a complement to Volume 3, Volume 4 presents practices recommended by the ATIP community to improve the protection and management of personal information.
The material is illustrated by examples drawn from case law and practitioners' experience. Checklists, tools and templates are provided to support implementation and decision-making. A directory of tools makes them easy to locate.
The Annotated ATIP Glossary contains definitions of terms and expressions used in ATIP practice and in the Manual.
The Manual is updated periodically, at least twice a year, to ensure that it remains at the cutting edge of jurisprudence and evolving ATIP practices.
The 2024 edition includes information on the implementation of the modernization of the PRP (L.Q. 2021, c. 25, "LMPRP").
